What changed

  • CHANGEFinal Boss

For every phase, the boss gives back one of your weapons

The final boss now gives back one of your weapons each phase, so you only fight the first phase with just your starter weapon.

For every phase, the boss gives back one of your weapons.

    • For every phase, the boss gives back one of your weapons. You only need to do the first phase with your starter weapon now.

TipOnly the first phase has to be cleared on your starter weapon, so pick your build for the weapon you actually want and just make sure the starter can carry that opening.

  • CHANGEFinal Boss

Pylon zones are bigger, and heal the boss

The final boss's pylon zones are bigger but heal the boss less, so it recovers less health during the fight.

  • WEAKERFinal Boss

Orbs deal less damage, and blue orbs freeze you for only 1s

The final boss's orbs deal less damage, and blue orbs now freeze you for 1s instead of 3s, so getting hit is less punishing.

Orbs deal less damage, and blue orbs freeze you for only 1s, instead of the previous 3s

  • CHANGEFinal Boss

Weapon range has been increased during the fight

Your weapons have more range during the final boss fight, so you can hit the boss from further away.

TipStop crowding the boss. Short-range builds that had to hug it can hold a safer distance and still land hits.

  • BUFFBalancing

All characters are about 10% faster, and accelerate faster

Every character moves about 10% faster and speeds up quicker and snappier, and the slower characters got a much bigger speed boost.

All characters are about 10% faster, and accelerate faster and snappier, and the slower characters are much faster in general

TipRevisit the characters you dropped for feeling sluggish. The developer singles out the slower ones as gaining the most from this.

  • CHANGEAthena

Athena now gains +2 Thorns per level

Athena now gains Thorns each level and attacks much faster while no shields are active.

Athena now gains +2 Thorns per level.

    • Athena now gains +2 Thorns per level. Also increases her attack speed by 150% when no shields are active. Maybe Quin can actually deal some damage now idk?

TipAthena wants to be shieldless, so stop topping her shields up out of habit. Leave them down and the attack speed bonus stays live.

  • CHANGEOgre

    Ogre - More jump height

Ogre jumps higher, and Ogre's axe now starts with 2 projectiles.

Ogre - More jump height and also axe spawns with 2 projectiles

TipOgre's axe opens with two projectiles, so his damage is front-loaded before any upgrade lands. Take fights earlier than you would on a pick that has to scale first.

  • BUFFDicehead

Dicehead - Passive is stronger early game

Dicehead's passive is stronger early in a run but falls off once you pass level 100.

Dicehead - Passive is stronger early game, but once you get really late game (lvl 100+) it falls off, so hopefully he's not the only character on the leaderboards anymore

TipDicehead used to be the default leaderboard pick. He is still strong to start, but if you are chasing a long run he now falls off past level 100, so he is a fast-clear character rather than an endurance one.

    Official source
  • CHANGEBush

    Bush - spawns more marks

Bush spawns more marks and gains crit damage with every level.

Bush - spawns more marks and also gains crit damage per level

TipBush gains crit damage per level, so XP feeds his damage directly. Take the level when a level and a chest detour compete.

    Official source
  • BUFFChunkers

Chunkers - Increased base damage and damage upgrades

Chunkers deals more base damage and gets more from each damage upgrade.

TipBoth the base damage and the upgrades moved, so Chunkers rewards investment at either end. Concentrate upgrade picks on it rather than spreading them.

  • BUFFCactus

Cactus projectiles can no longer pierce Aegis

Cactus enemies fire fewer projectiles, and those projectiles can be evaded and no longer go through Aegis.

Cactus projectiles can no longer pierce Aegis, and can be evaded as well.

    • Cactus projectiles can no longer pierce Aegis, and can be evaded as well. Also they shoot less cactus projectiles

TipCactus lost output on three fronts at once. Treat it as support rather than your main answer to shielded or evasive enemies.

    Official source
  • BUFFShotgun

    Shotgun range has been increased

The Shotgun reaches further, so you can hit enemies from a greater distance.

TipRange on a shotgun buys you distance, not damage, so treat this as room to back off from a pack rather than a reason to stand inside one.

  • CHANGESystem

You can't knock bosses out of the map anymore lol

    Official source
  • CHANGEFinal Boss

    Orbs have slightly longer cooldown

The final boss's orbs have a slightly longer cooldown, so fewer of them fill the arena.

Orbs have slightly longer cooldown, so he doesn't spawn as many

TipA cooldown change lowers the spawn rate, not a total, so a boss fight you drag out still fills with orbs. Spend the wider gap between spawns pushing damage rather than waiting the fight out.

  • CHANGEBalancing

Weapon and Tome slots are unlocked earlier

The third and fourth weapon and tome slots unlock earlier, so you can fill out your build sooner.

Weapon and Tome slots are unlocked earlier now (25 and 35 for 3rd slots, 45 and 55 for 4th slots)

TipPlan for a fuller loadout at a lower level. Your third and fourth slots arrive before the levels you may still be pacing the build around.

  • CHANGECalcium

Calcium - Passive deals more damage with speed

Calcium's passive now deals more damage the faster you move.

Calcium - Passive deals more damage with speed now

TipCalcium's damage is now tied to how fast you are moving, so movement speed is no longer just a survival stat on him. Take speed offers you would previously have skipped.

    Official source
  • FIXDice

Dice - Fixed a bug where the dice was increasing crit

The Dice now only raises its own crit chance instead of wrongly boosting crit chance for all your weapons.

Dice - Fixed a bug where the dice was increasing crit chance for all your weapons, instead of just the dice itself

TipDice's crit chance applies to Dice alone, so it is not the crit enabler for a whole loadout. Source crit for your other weapons somewhere else.

  • WEAKERBalancing

Exploding spiders deal less damage and have less HP

Exploding spiders deal less damage and die faster, so they are less dangerous.

TipYou can push through spider packs you used to route around. The time you save beats the chip damage you take.

  • BUFFMultiple items

Refresh, Skip & Banish are cheaper early game

Refresh, Skip and Banish cost less early in a run, so shaping your upgrade choices is easier from the start.

TipBanish what you never want as soon as the shop opens. Cleaning the pool is cheap early and every later reroll is better for it.

Fixed: you could die while teleporting and become invincible

  • CHANGESystem

Game Setting to choose how many of your projectiles

A new game setting lets you choose how many of your projectiles aim at random and how many follow your targeting mode; your first projectile always uses targeting mode.

Game Setting to choose how many of your projectiles you want to be aimed at random, and how many at the targeting mode.

    • Game Setting to choose how many of your projectiles you want to be aimed at random, and how many at the targeting mode. First projectile will always use targeting mode.

TipThe first projectile always uses targeting mode, so sliding the setting all the way to random still leaves one aimed shot. On a single-projectile build the setting does nothing at all.

  • NEWSilver Pots

Added silver pots, that give you silver

New silver pots give you silver, and normal pots still spawn as often as before.

Added silver pots, that give you silver.

    • Added silver pots, that give you silver. (No there's not fewer normal pots, dont worry)

  • CHANGESystem

Setting to lock the minimap instead of having them rotate

A new setting lets you lock the minimap so it no longer rotates.

TipIt is opt in, so nothing changes until you switch it on. Switch it if you navigate by remembering where things sit on the map, and leave it rotating if you steer by the way you are facing.

  • WEAKERSystem

Sandstorms are shorter and less obstructive

Sandstorms are now shorter and block less, so they get in your way less.

TipKeep clearing at your normal pace through a sandstorm, since the window where it costs you anything is now small. The storm is not the thing to plan the run around, the wave under it is.

  • FIXSystem

Fixed: falling out of bounds didnt teleport you back up to map

Fixed an issue where falling out of bounds didnt teleport you back up to map

TipThe edge is a recoverable mistake now: go over it and the game puts you back on the map. You can kite along one instead of steering wide of it.

  • CHANGESystem

Shop in Menu now unlocks earlier

The shop in the menu unlocks earlier, so you can start using it sooner.

TipA save that already has the shop open sees nothing change, so this matters only on a fresh account or a restart. On a new one, check the menu between early runs instead of waiting to look.

    • Music doesn't spam theme songs anymore, only 25% chance to play. But if you really want to hear the theme song you can select it with the boombox

TipThe theme songs are still available on demand: pick one on the boombox instead of waiting for the roll to hand you one.

The HUD now shows the current chest price next to your level at the top right.

You can see the chest of prices in the HUD now (next to the level at the top right)

TipRead the chest price next to your level while you are still fighting, so you are not a few coins short at the chest after spending gold elsewhere.

  • FIXSystem

    Crit damage Mult displays properly

The crit damage multiplier now shows the correct value.

Crit damage Mult displays properly now

TipOnly the readout changed, not the damage, so no build got stronger here. The upside is that the crit damage number is now worth trusting when you decide whether another crit item earns its slot.

  • CHANGESystem

Adding a setting under "Video Settings" to allow

A new option in Video Settings lets you set the camera further out by default.

Adding a setting under "Video Settings" to allow you to zoom out more by default

TipIt is opt in and it sits under Video Settings rather than the gameplay options, which is why it is easy to miss. A wider default view buys you earlier warning on what is closing in, at the cost of detail.

  • CHANGESystem

Can disable numbered keys selection in upgrade screen

You can now turn off choosing upgrades with the number keys on the upgrade screen.

TipSwitch it off if your hand rests on the number row while you play, since with it on a stray press locks in an upgrade before you have read the options.
