- CHANGEOpen Weapon Systemverified
Any class can run any weapon
Every class can now equip any weapon, and each class gets proficiency bonuses with its Signature type: assault rifles for Assault, SMGs for Engineer, LMGs for Support and sniper rifles for Recon.
BF6 ships with 4 classes (Assault, Engineer, Support, Recon) but weapons are no longer locked to a class.
- Any class can equip any weapon.
- Each class has a Signature weapon type that grants proficiency bonuses with that type: Assault = Assault Rifle (faster draw and sprint, better sprint recovery), Engineer = SMG (improved hip-fire control), Support = LMG (faster aim-down-sights, no sprint speed penalty), Recon = Sniper Rifle (reduced sway, quicker rechambering, better breath control). Off-Signature weapons work on any class but get no proficiency bonus.
TipIf you main Recon, you can carry an SMG for flank fights without losing your spawn beacon and sniper role; but you forfeit the Signature proficiency, so off-class guns feel slightly worse to handle.

Destruction is designed and persistent
Destruction leaves designed ruins and debris piles that stay in place, so a broken map turns into terrain you can learn and use rather than random rubble.
Destruction leaves designed, lasting debris, so it reshapes the map as learnable terrain rather than random chaos.
- DICE designed BF6 destruction so the result of breaking structures stays, creating 'interesting ruins and level-designed debris piles that reshape the player space' (a war-torn battlefield, not a random 'moon landscape').
TipMemorise which walls drop into cover and which collapse a whole floor. A planned breach reshapes the same space each round, so you can pre-plan flank routes and sightlines, then hold them.

9 launch maps across 5 theaters
The base game has nine maps across five theaters, with Mirak Valley the largest and Operation Firestorm returning as a remaster, and each map is split into Combat Zones built for each mode.
The base game shipped with 9 maps split across the Cairo, Gibraltar, Tajikistan, Brooklyn and Legacy theaters.
- Launch maps: Liberation Peak, Empire State, New Sobek City, Manhattan Bridge, Iberian Offensive, Mirak Valley, Siege of Cairo, Saints Quarter, and Operation Firestorm (a remaster). Mirak Valley is the largest. The 9 maps contain 25 hand-crafted Combat Zones tailored per mode.
TipEach map has multiple Combat Zone variants per mode, so the same map name plays very differently in a small infantry mode versus all-out warfare. Check the Combat Zone, not just the map name, before picking a loadout.
