  • NEWInterdictorverified

    New sniper: Interdictor

The Interdictor is a new Battle Pass sniper rifle made for extreme distances, and it can hit pilots inside aircraft cockpits.

A new sniper rifle built for the longest engagements in the game.

    • Game Update 1.4.2.0 added the Interdictor, which EA describes as the longest-range sniper rifle in Battlefield 6, built for extreme-distance engagements and able to hit aviators inside aircraft cockpits. EA states it unlocks through the Battle Pass. No damage, velocity or handling figures were published in the update notes.

TipIt comes from the Battle Pass rather than normal weapon progression, so it will not show up just by playing your usual loadouts.

  • CHANGEWake Islandverified

Wake Island returns to Battlefield 6 multiplayer

Wake Island is back in multiplayer, with infantry, vehicles and aircraft fighting over the coast, reinforced positions to blow open with C-4 and an offshore aircraft carrier to use.

A returning Pacific island map with a shoreline to hold, reinforced positions to blow open, and an offshore carrier to use.

    • Wake Island returned to Battlefield 6 multiplayer with Game Update 1.4.2.0 on 18 August. EA's notes call it a legendary island where infantry, vehicles and aircraft battle across its distinctive coastal terrain, and name three things to work with: defending the shoreline, demolishing reinforced positions with C-4, and taking advantage of the offshore aircraft carrier.
    • EA's Season 4 roadmap adds that it is an iconic locale from Battlefield 1942, based on its latest appearance in Battlefield V: War in the Pacific, reimagined for Battlefield 6 to fit its scale and gameplay systems. It was one of the four maps in the 18-25 August free trial, and the update also added it to Portal Verified Experiences.

TipEA names C-4 as the way to open reinforced positions here, so carry it if you expect defenders to be dug in rather than out in the open. The offshore aircraft carrier is listed as something to take advantage of rather than as scenery, so it is worth scouting before you commit to a shoreline fight.

  • NEWF/A-81F Super Spectreverified

New two-seat jet: F/A-81F Super Spectre

The F/A-81F Super Spectre is a new two-seat fighter jet where the pilot and co-pilot work together on dogfights and precision strikes against ground targets.

A two-seat Top Gun fighter jet built for aerial superiority and precision strikes on targets below.

    • Added with Game Update 1.4.2.0 on August 18, 2026, with the new content unlocking at 12:00 UTC. EA describes it as a two-seat Top Gun fighter jet built for aerial superiority and precision strikes, letting pilots and co-pilots work together to dominate the skies and attack targets below. It is one of the two new jets flown in the jets-only REDSEC mode Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, and it was added to the Portal SDK in the same update. EA published no performance figures for it.

TipThe second seat is the point. EA describes the pilot and co-pilot working the aircraft together, so bring a wingman rather than treating it as a solo jet. The same update also added the Interdictor sniper, which EA says can eliminate exposed targets including aviators in aircraft cockpits, so a slow run over enemy-held ground carries a risk it did not before.

  • NEWF-74A Seacatverified

New two-seat jet: F-74A Seacat with swing wings

The F-74A Seacat is a new two-seat fighter jet with swing wings that adjust in flight, built for speed, manoeuvrability and dogfights.

A two-seat Top Gun fighter jet whose variable-sweep wings adjust during flight.

    • Added with Game Update 1.4.2.0 on August 18, 2026, with the new content unlocking at 12:00 UTC.
    • EA describes it as a two-seat Top Gun fighter jet whose variable-sweep wings adjust during flight, built for speed, maneuverability, and aerial combat.
    • Like the Super Spectre it is flown in the jets-only REDSEC mode Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep, and it was added to the Portal SDK in the same update. EA published no handling or performance figures for it.

TipIf you have not flown since before this update, check the new assisted aircraft control option it added. EA says it guides the aircraft toward the center of the camera view while managing pitch, roll, and yaw for you. Jet landing gear physics were also changed in the same update, which EA says gives better control on take-off, landing, and taxiing.

  • CHANGETop Gun: Carrier Strikeverified

Carrier Assault returns as Top Gun: Carrier Strike

Top Gun: Carrier Strike brings back Carrier Assault, with infantry, naval and air squads working together to breach and destroy the enemy aircraft carrier on Tsuru Reef.

A new combined-arms mode where infantry, naval and air squads work together to destroy the enemy carrier.

    • Carrier Assault returns as a reimagined combined-arms experience in which infantry, naval and aviation squads must work together to destroy the enemy aircraft carrier. Ground forces break through the opposition and secure the path forward, naval units support the assault, and aviators fight for control of the skies. Victory is secured by successfully breaching and destroying the opposing carrier. Tsuru Reef has been expanded with playable aircraft carriers to support it, and while carriers appear as environment in Conquest and Escalation, full carrier gameplay is exclusive to this mode. It arrived with the Top Gun event in Game Update 1.4.2.0.

TipIf you want to fight on a carrier rather than around one, queue this mode specifically: on Tsuru Reef in Conquest and Escalation the carriers are environment only. EA frames it as three jobs at once, so a squad that only flies leaves the ground push that secures the path forward unmanned.

    Official source
  • NEWGauntlet: Fighter Sweeppartial

Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a jets-only REDSEC mode in the Top Gun event

Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a jets-only REDSEC mode in the Top Gun event where you and a wingman share a two-seat jet and dogfight rival squadrons.

A jets-only Gauntlet in REDSEC where you and a wingman share a two-seat jet and hunt rival squadrons.

    • Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep is a new REDSEC mode built around high-intensity dogfights and flown in the new 2-seat fighter jets, with EA's pitch being to bring your wingman along in the jet. EA describes the loop as sweeping in to obliterate hostile forces, breaking left to evade incoming anti-aircraft fire, and sending the rival squadron crashing down to lock in the win. EA lists it under the Top Gun Limited Time Event as one of two new themed modes, alongside Carrier Strike, and it arrived on August 18. EA did not publish squad sizes, round structure, or an end date for the event.

TipEA files this under REDSEC while Top Gun: Carrier Strike is the multiplayer mode, so look under REDSEC rather than the multiplayer list. It sits inside a Limited Time Event and EA gave no end date, so do not count on it sticking around. The jets are two-seaters EA pitches as bring-your-wingman, so go in with someone you can coordinate with.

  • CHANGETsuru Reefverified

Tsuru Reef expanded with playable aircraft carriers

Tsuru Reef now has playable aircraft carriers, which appear as part of the map in Conquest and Escalation but are only fully playable in Top Gun: Carrier Strike.

Battlefield 6's biggest map got bigger, and aircraft carriers are now part of the playspace.

    • Tsuru Reef, described by EA as the biggest Battlefield 6 map, has been expanded with playable aircraft carriers that open new combat spaces and support the reimagined return of Carrier Strike. The carriers appear as part of the environment in Conquest and Escalation, while full carrier gameplay is exclusive to Top Gun: Carrier Strike.
    • Portal also gained a mutator to enable the Conquest version of the Aircraft Carriers on Tsuru Reef, and the map was added to the Portal SDK for Custom Experiences. EA published no figures for how much larger the playspace is.

TipQueue Top Gun: Carrier Strike if you want the carriers as actual playable ground, because in Conquest and Escalation they are environment. On Portal, a host has to switch on the new mutator to get the Conquest version of the carriers.

  • NEWTop Gun Eventpartial

Top Gun event adds Ace Medals and CJTF Helix

The Top Gun event adds Ace Medals, earned from Event Challenges and spent on themed cosmetics, plus the CJTF Helix squad unit and two new modes, all for a limited time only.

A limited-time crossover event with its own currency, cosmetics and squad unit, live only while it runs.

    • EA calls Top Gun its biggest seasonal event yet, running across Battlefield 6 and REDSEC, with the new content unlocking at 12:00 UTC on 18 August. Event Challenges award Ace Medals, a limited-time currency that can be spent on Top Gun-themed cosmetics in the Event menu. The event also introduces CJTF Helix, a new squad unit inspired by Top Gun characters, alongside the new modes Top Gun: Carrier Strike and Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep. The Season 4 roadmap names it a Limited Time Event and EA published no end date, so if you are reading this after it closed, the Event Challenges and Ace Medals are no longer there to earn.

TipWhile the event is running, Ace Medals are spent on Top Gun cosmetics in the Event menu, so look at what is stocked there before deciding which challenges to chase. EA calls them a limited-time currency and published nothing about what happens to an unspent balance, so spend what you earn instead of banking it.

  • FIXJetsverified

Jet landing gear, controls and rocket fixes

Jets take off, land and taxi more steadily, lock-on rockets no longer push or damage your own jet, and the Precision Bomb now tracks laser-designated targets.

Take-off and landing are steadier, and firing lock-on rockets no longer shoves or damages your own jet.

    • All jet landing gear physics have been improved, which EA says gives better control during take-off, landing and taxiing, and jet control surface movement has been increased for a more realistic visual response during flight. Firing lock-on rockets from a jet no longer causes unintended aircraft movement or damage. The Fighter Jet's Precision Bomb can now track laser-designated targets as intended, and the Su-57's R-73 now fires the correct projectile. EA published no figures for any of these.

TipStop flying around the old lock-on rocket kick, because firing no longer moves or damages the jet, so you can hold your line through the shot. The Precision Bomb is also worth re-learning with a squadmate designating targets now that it tracks lasers as intended.

  • CHANGECountermeasuresverified

Anti-air now scores, and countermeasures work more reliably

You now earn score for forcing enemy aircraft to use countermeasures and missiles react faster to flares, and the RCB-90 Patrol Boat's guided missile can now be diverted by flares once it is self-guiding.

Forcing a pilot to burn flares now pays out, and missiles respond to those flares more consistently.

    • A new score event has been added for forcing enemy aircraft to deploy countermeasures, which EA says gives clearer feedback and rewards effective use of anti-aircraft gadgets. Missiles now react more quickly to countermeasures deployed by their target, described by EA as improving the consistency of countermeasure effectiveness. Separately, the RCB-90 Patrol Boat's Aim-Guided Missile can now correctly be diverted by flares once it enters its self-guidance phase. EA published no figures for any of these changes.

TipKeep firing launchers at aircraft you cannot realistically kill, since forcing the flares now scores on its own. In an RCB-90, wait until a target has burned its countermeasures before committing the Aim-Guided Missile, because flares can now divert it during self-guidance.

  • FIXMap boundariesverified

Map boundaries redrawn and rooftop spots closed

Rooftop exploits on Cairo Bazaar and Manhattan Bridge are closed, the area around Objective D on Manhattan Bridge can be reached again, and spawns on several maps are in safer spots.

Rooftop exploit spots on Cairo Bazaar and Manhattan Bridge are closed, and spawns moved on five maps.

    • The playable area on Cairo Bazaar has been reshaped, with additional out-of-bounds zones added to prevent access to unintended rooftops and exploitable buildings. Several map exploits have been closed, including unintended rooftop access on Cairo Bazaar and Manhattan Bridge. Out-of-bounds boundaries on Manhattan Bridge have been updated to make the intended gameplay space around Objective D accessible again.
    • Spawn points have been adjusted across Manhattan Bridge, Eastwood, Saints Quarter, Contaminated and Siege of Cairo to prevent players from spawning inside environmental objects and to place them in more protected locations.
    • Collision has been improved across multiple maps to reduce cases where players could become stuck or be shot through walls.

TipIf your Cairo Bazaar routine started with a climb, check the boundary warning before you commit, because the playable area is smaller and some buildings are now off limits. Manhattan Bridge went the other way: the space around Objective D is playable again, so expect contact from ground that used to be empty.

  • NEWUSS Grantpartial

Crashed Carrier POI added to Fort Lyndon

USS Grant is a new Crashed Carrier POI off the Fort Lyndon coast in Battle Royale with better loot than standard POIs, which gives squads a reason to drop on the coastline early.

A downed US carrier off the Fort Lyndon coast, holding better loot than a standard POI.

    • USS Grant is a US aircraft carrier that was brought down off the coast of Fort Lyndon, adding an all-new Crashed Carrier POI to Battle Royale where squads can drop in and contest the deck. EA says it offers higher-value loot than standard POIs on the map, giving squads another reason to target the coastline early. EA also said it would be marked as a High Value Zone for the first few weeks after launch to make it easier to spot when deploying, so that tag was time-limited from the start. EA published no figures for how much better the loot is.

TipEA only promised the High Value Zone marker for the first few weeks after launch, so do not count on the game flagging the wreck when you deploy - learn where it sits on the Fort Lyndon coastline first. EA's own note says the loot is the draw, so plan for company on the deck rather than a quiet landing.

  • NEWAirplane Control Assistverified

New Airplane Control Assist option added

Airplane Control Assist is a new, easier way to fly that steers the plane toward the centre of your camera view and handles pitch, roll and yaw for you.

A new option steers the aircraft towards the centre of your camera view and manages pitch, roll and yaw.

    • Game Update 1.4.2.0 adds Airplane Control Assist, which EA describes as an alternative, more approachable way to pilot airplanes. The vehicles section of the changelog says it guides the aircraft towards the centre of the camera view while automatically managing pitch, roll and yaw. EA published no figures for it and does not say where the option sits in the menus.

TipIf you gave up on flying in Battlefield 6, this is the update to try again, because you point the camera where you want to go and the assist manages pitch, roll and yaw for you. EA does not name the menu it lives in, so look for it in your options before you take an airplane rather than mid-flight.

  • NEWADS Dispersion Crosshairverified

New ADS dispersion crosshair shows weapon bloom

The new ADS Dispersion Crosshair is an optional reticle that grows as your shots spread while aiming, on by default only in the Firing Range but available in multiplayer too.

An optional reticle that grows while you hold the trigger in aim down sights, showing how inaccurate your weapon has become.

    • EA has added an option called ADS Dispersion Crosshair, an indicator representing the weapon's current dispersion (also called bloom or spread) while aiming down sights. Shooting with an automatic weapon makes the shape grow, communicating that the weapon is becoming inaccurate, and moving also shows how accuracy is affected. It lives under HUD/CROSSHAIR and is enabled by default in the Firing Range only, but it can be turned fully off or enabled in multiplayer experiences. It comes with its own opacity slider and colour picker.
    • EA states the intention is to help players understand how dispersion works and improve their shooting technique with that mechanic in mind.

TipThe Firing Range is the one place it is already on, so hold a long automatic burst there and then repeat it while moving to see how far the shape opens up in each case. If you want it in a real match you have to enable it yourself under HUD/CROSSHAIR, where its own opacity slider and colour picker let you tune how visible the indicator is.

  • CHANGESniper Riflespartial

Sniper ADS smoothed out for non-Recon classes

Sniper rifles on non-Recon classes now scope in more smoothly with less jitter, but they still carry the quickscoping penalty compared with Recon.

Sniper rifles on any class other than Recon scope in more consistently, but the quickscoping penalty stays.

    • The 1.4.2.0 WEAPONS changelog states that sniper rifles used by non-Recon classes now transition into aim down sights more smoothly and apply the intended aim offset immediately, reducing jitter. EA describes the change as preserving the intended quickscoping penalty compared with Recon, so that penalty is still in place. No figures were published for the aim offset, the transition, or the size of the penalty.

TipIf you dropped the sniper on a non-Recon class because scoping in felt inconsistent, it is worth another look, since the jitter is the part that was fixed. The off-class quickscope penalty is explicitly unchanged, so keep playing it as a hold-still, pre-aimed weapon rather than a flick weapon.

  • FIXGadgetsverified

Tracer Dart lock-ons restored, plus three gadget changes

Lock-on launchers can once again lock onto targets marked by the TRCRv2 Tracer Dart, and Defibrillator charges now fully refill while swimming.

Targets marked with the TRCRv2 Tracer Dart can be locked onto by lock-on launchers again, as intended.

    • Targets marked with a TRCRv2 Tracer Dart can now be locked onto correctly by lock-on launchers, restoring the intended interaction between the two gadgets. Defibrillator charges now fully replenish while swimming. The CSB IV EOD Bot's Repair Tool now benefits from the Overheat Control Field Upgrade, and Supply Bags now break glass correctly when thrown through it. EA published no figures for any of the four.

TipMark a target with the TRCRv2 Tracer Dart before you swap to a lock-on launcher, since the notes name that pairing as working again. If you run the CSB IV EOD Bot, re-check Overheat Control in your Field Upgrade slot, because its Repair Tool now benefits from it.

  • FIXRCB-90verified

Laser designation now works with the Patrol Boat

Mortar crews on the Patrol Boat and the Deployable Mortar can now see laser-designated targets, and the RCB-90 can now be lased, with its guided missile giving a proper lock-on warning.

Laser-designated targets now show up for mortar crews, and the RCB-90 itself can finally be lased as intended.

    • Laser-designated targets are now visible while using the Patrol Boat Mortar and Deployable Mortar, which EA says lets Recon players coordinate fire support more effectively. The RCB-90 Patrol Boat can now be laser designated as intended. Its Aim-Guided Missile now appears correctly in the Killcard and provides the intended lock-on warning when targeting an enemy, and it can be diverted by flares once it enters its self-guidance phase. Naval Mine visual states on the Patrol Boat also remain synchronised for all players.

TipRecon can now spot for a squadmate sitting on the Patrol Boat Mortar or a Deployable Mortar, because the lased target is visible to whoever is firing it. Going the other way, your Aim-Guided Missile now warns the target it is locked, so expect flares and evasion where a launch used to land quietly.

  • NEWPortal Custom Lobbiespartial

Custom Lobbies arrive in Portal as an early implementation

Portal Custom Lobbies let hosts assign teams, pick maps and turn on Spectating for Battle Royale Quads and Conquest, but both features are still early and Spectating is less reliable.

Portal can now host organised matches with assigned teams and spectators, but EA calls it an early implementation.

    • Custom Lobbies are now available through Portal as an early implementation designed primarily for organised and competitive communities. They are available for Battle Royale Quads and Conquest, and hosts can assign players to specific teams, select compatible maps, and enable Spectating. EA states that both Custom Lobbies and Spectating remain works in progress, with Spectating in particular currently subject to more noticeable limitations and reliability issues. The notes do not say which maps count as compatible or what the Spectating limitations are.

TipIf you are organising a scrim, test Spectating before match day - EA singles it out as the least reliable part, and only Battle Royale Quads and Conquest are supported.

  • FIXUnderwater combatverified

Fatal damage while drowning no longer blocks revives

Teammates downed in water now float and can still be revived when drowning and other fatal damage hit at the same time, and underwater animations and audio are smoother.

A teammate downed in water no longer sinks or ends up impossible to revive.

    • Soldiers no longer enter an unrevivable state when taking fatal external damage and drowning damage at the same time, and they now float correctly when transitioning to the downed state in water instead of sinking to the bottom.
    • New first-person and third-person animations were added for swimming below the surface, first-person animations were added for exiting a vehicle underwater, and arm animations are more consistent when swapping weapons while swimming forwards.
    • The transition between above-water and underwater views was improved when a vehicle enters the water, and underwater audio behaviour was polished with smoother transitions between above-water and underwater states. EA published no figures for any of these changes.

TipIf a squadmate goes down in the water, look on the surface rather than the seabed - downed teammates now float there, so the revive is actually reachable. A water fight that used to write a teammate off is now worth swimming back for.

  • FIXMatch Grade Ammopartial

Match Grade Ammo damage fixed, VSSM limb damage adjusted

Match Grade Ammo now does its full damage to swimming soldiers and no longer loses damage on the M2010 ESR and SVK-8.6, and the VSSM's limb damage was adjusted and an unintended recoil modifier removed from its barrels.

Match Grade Ammo now does its intended damage to swimmers and stops shorting the M2010 ESR and SVK-8.6.

    • The WEAPONS changelog corrects Match Grade Ammo twice: it now deals the intended damage against swimming soldiers, and on the M2010 ESR and SVK-8.6 it no longer applies unintended damage reductions.
    • Separately, VSSM limb damage multipliers have been adjusted, with EA stating neither the direction nor any figures.
    • An unintended recoil modifier has also been removed from VSSM barrel attachments.

TipIf you run Match Grade Ammo on the M2010 ESR or SVK-8.6, treat your old kill timings as out of date, because those two were losing damage they were not supposed to lose. VSSM arm and leg hits are worth re-testing yourself, since EA adjusted the limb multipliers without saying which way they moved.

SETTINGS

  • When shooting while aiming down sight with an automatic weapon, you will notice that the size of that shape increases which communicates that the weapon is becoming inaccurate. When moving, you can also see how the accuracy is affected.
  • The intention of this option is to help players understand how Dispersion functions and to learn to improve their shooting technique with that mechanic in mind.
  • The option called ADS Dispersion Crosshair can be found under HUD/CROSSHAIR and is by default enabled in the firing range only but can be fully turned OFF or enabled in any multiplayer experiences.
  • In addition, the option comes with its own opacity slider and color picker so that you can customize the visibility of the indicator to your liking.
  • (Mp4)(Comparison of ADS dispersion crosshair disabled and enabled while aiming through a scope from sprint to prone.)
  • A new crosshair option has been added to visualise weapon dispersion while firing in aim down sights. Enabled by default in the Firing Range, it can also be used in other Multiplayer experiences, with colour and opacity adjustable through the HUD options.
