Crypto changes in Apex Legends

Crypto gets less ultimate charge from scanning players, and Power Coupling stops working for a short time after the EMP.

Crypto's drone launches and re-enters much faster, cloaks Crypto, works on ziplines and grabs Evo Harvesters, scans last longer with Threat Vision while piloting, and two new upgrades replace the absorbed ones.

Crypto's drone now takes ring damage, and with Off the Grid a nearby cloaked Crypto shows a faint flicker and is louder, so a hidden Crypto is easier to find.

Crypto's drone comes back faster, the new Off the Grid upgrade cloaks Crypto while flying it, and Improved Satellite Imagery makes the ultimate scan and track anyone it hits through walls.

TipDroning is far safer now that Off the Grid cloaks you, so scout more aggressively - and since the ult marks anyone it hits for 4s through walls, push the scan instead of just taking the information.

Crypto's drone now calls out nearby squads by default and shows squad banners whenever deployed; the cooldown upgrades are gone, replaced by Quick Ping handling, Satellite Imagery scans and Hackathon's halved drone cooldown.

TipLeave the drone deployed while you reposition, since squadcount banners read out any time it is up. At Level 3 take Hackathon for constant scouting or Satellite Imagery to hold a scan 1.5s longer.

Crypto's drone comes back a little faster when recalled, and switching into and out of the drone is quicker.

Crypto's drone now flies straight ahead when deployed without putting you in Drone View unless you hold the button; it has less health, and its HUD marker is easier to see and always shown.

The deployment of the Drone has received a rework: Pressing the Tactical button causes Crypto to send the Drone flying in a straight line in the direction of Crypto's view for a few seconds.

Bloodhound, Crypto and Pathfinder can all use Survey Beacons to see where the next ring will be, and Crypto can get it instantly with the drone.

All Recon legends (Bloodhound, Crypto, and Pathfinder) can now use Survey Beacons to get the next ring location. Crypto can use his drone to instantly get this information.

Crypto can now ping banners while flying the drone to warn teammates that other squads are nearby.
